Unreal perspective

Post by Unrealer »

Unreal perspective will be a UT mod that let's you replay the Unreal single player but with a twist. The goal of the mod is to change the gameplay style of the first person shooter to an action adventure shooter. (Those who are familiar with the resident evil genres will be right at home with this mod)

Features:

Full camera views, including panning, dollying and interpolation cam.
Scripted cutscenes.

Here are some shots for a better indication of how it would play like. (pardon the brightness)

Help wanted:

I'm going to need help for optimizing this mod as much as possible.

This project needs a few people that are experimented with uscript.
Needs a music theme.
Need someone to help me build the actors in the levels accordingly.

If anyone is remotely interested in the project let me know. You can reach me by e-mail as well.

Thanks to all and keep it unreal!

I have some good music knowledge as well. Maybe I could help you out a bit with that. What tools do you use to make the music in unreal?
Let me see what samples you have and maybe we could use one as a template. We will need a minimum of 2 songs, one theme song and a credit song. The credit song shoudnt be to hard to do but finding the right theme for this mod could be catchy. ;)

Modules work in any version, if you have problems converting, send 'em to me, I didn't have any of those problems in my whole life. :D

I've been told importing OGG Vorbis files are only for 227 users. But I'll definitely send them to you so you can make sure the modules are set up right ;)

Well, OGG, MP3 or anything, doesn't matter, if you first convert that to WAV then to module, older versions shouldn't have problems too. :)

Guess what, what if people don't want to deal with 41 ish MB .UMX files?

It'll still be large as hell... Lower bit-rate and sample rate will sound like BS to other people except for me.

When I import MP3 or OGG, then save it as UMX, it's a pretty small file (single digits anyway). However, I've been told it's 227 only (mp3 only for FMOD and AL I think)

That's what I've been told, and I only use 227 so I'm not one to argue.

Well, why using a version older than 227 anyway?
(Except for servers maybe, because old versions crash much more than 227.)

Because 227 is unstable as a client to most people, I don't want to use 227 until it's final, perfectly optimized and bug free, for good..

As you can see, the Bugs section of 227 is almost empty. So it's already a LOT more stable than older patches.

wait.. just wait..

I heard a rumor that in 227f, it might be possible to copy over your BotPack.u from UT and have it work 100% in unreal 227f.... well see...

I don't give a flying fuck about the music discussion, but the idea of the mod is great, and the pics are impressive. Playing Unreal with these styles of camera would be great, but you will need to change the way the controls interact with the player or it will feel strange and hard to play through. :)
You must construct additional pylons.

Thanks for the interest hellkeeper. I don't think there will be much to change about the controls. I can get a hold of them very easily. It is true that i was a big resident evil fan , so gamers that never experienced the type of controls will definitly be thrown off. If you have any suggestions though i'd be glad to hear them. The project will take a LONG time to make, so any help will be greatly appreciated. :D

Alright , i've decided that i will base the intro on the song and not vice versa. I think the cinematic will be more flexible if it's done this way.
If you guys want examples , we could have a metal sounding song or it could even sound like an existing unreal or ut song. The intro will be made around the vortex rickers map if that can help. In other terms i dont really mind how the song feels, as long as it's uplifting or "catchy" if you get my drift!

So Joe83420@hotmail.com , send me your work to this link. Don't worry if you think that the song is not up to par. I will update accordingly. I will apply all changes and update.
