It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.

Btw why "Restart" button was translated as "Начать сначала" but not as more correct "Перезапуск"?
All Russian unofficial localizations was ILLEGAL and used Engine.u hacked version.
Also, All Russian unofficial localizations not used unicode - russian letters replaсed english symbols in Ascii table
For correct localization, need utx file with textured unicode symbols.
But command line "#exec Font Import File=" not supported unicode,
and command line "#exec new TrueTypeFontFactory" not supported textured fonts.
At the moment I don't know how to solve this problem.

Кроме того, они использовали ASCII символы вместо Юникода, что в рамках КОРРЕКТНОЙ локализации невозможно.
Проблема заключается в том, что в рамках корректной локализации НЕВОЗМОЖНО создать текстурный шрифт с символами Юникода - он может быть либо белым, либо цветным, но не разноцветным как в оригинале.
Решение проблемы есть: нужно импортировать в отдельный файл шрифт HeliosCondBlack (именно он использован в меню) с символами русского юникода, а затем хакерским образом заменить белые буквы на текстурные. Только никто из англоязычных пользователей этим заморачиваться не будет.
Если хотите, мы можем продолжить обсуждение, но я так же не готов заниматься этой работой - меня всё устраивает. Это всего лишь игра.
Allright! But I'm not talking only about menu fonts, I'm about small letters too, there's below the menu on the screenshot.

At the other side I talking about how to make it closer to ideal, not just fine. I'm more interested in making normal styled fonts than you (some my friends interested too), so this is not a justification that english speakers don't care or all is fine to you. Even this is just a game, that's not means you couldn't try your best for it. I just WANNA make something with it. I'm even ready to redraw these letters to make it look better, if just that's technicaly possible to port this in the game. The very problem is how to use these fonts, right?

Понял. Но я не только о шрифте в меню, а ещё и о мелком шрифте. Он показан внизу меню.

С другой стороны хотелось бы видеть результат более близкий к идеалу, чем просто нормальный. Это нужно не только мне, но и некоторым моим друзьям, значит оправдание что всем по барабану не прокатит. Даже если это всего лишь игра, это не значит, что надо забить хрен. Это - творчество. Я просто ХОЧУ что-то с этим сделать. Я даже готов перерисовать эти шрифты, если их будет возможно использовать. Сложность ведь только в портировании шрифта в игру, верно?

И всё же почему кнопка "Restart" в меню настроек переведена, как "Начать сначала", а не более правельный перевод"Перезапуск"? Или об этом уже известно?

The current Russian localization has a mix of already translated strings pulled off from the v227i localization and the transplanted strings from the Wiki placed on top of Buggie's templates. I cannot speak or write Russian, so any help in this regard is more than welcome.

This is something I once made using the true type font import, followed by applying filters in GIMP, and importing it back using a custom tool.

Since it's a unicode import, it supports some national characters, including Polish, Russian, and Greek I think? I didn't talk about it before because it has some imperfections, such as:
- lack of specular highlight
- the border looking a bit rough
- different width of digit glyphs misaligns the HUD near ammocount a little (at least on 227i, seems to not happen on 227j?)
- since it was imported in an experimental way (you can't do it normally), I don't guarantee it to behave perfectly

Wow! Good enough. Looks like an option. But there's still no other sized characters

The correct font for portuguese is UTF-8.

For Unreal v227 and UT v469 the encoding used is exactly that one, UTF-8-BOM. Up to v227i and UT versions prior to v469a used either ANSI or UTF16-LE, IICR.

I mostly corrected what seems to be computer translation errors.

Things like: English "Disabled" is not Dutch Gehandicapt "Handicapped" in the context of the Unreal options menu but Dutch Uitgeschakeld "Turned off"
Also, a few terms can better be left untranslated. Words like "Mouse look" and "Decals" as well as some other computer jargon have no proper Dutch translations.

Original LargeFont not has accents.
The Y_LargeFont posted in this thread, has all characters (accents and unicode symbols).
It needs to be redone - redraw the existing textures, and add HD textures.
I found that can be done in the texture browser (it has a font settings menu).
But that's a lot of testing work.

I can do this in the near future, but I do not promise a quick result - there is really a lot of work.

Well, I'm not going to take on a new job on this. I know about the translation project for a while now and there is a reason why I did not contribute until now. Everything else in my life has a higher priority than this (no offense) but that does not mean that I can spend some dull hours to improving some translations when I feel like it.

For myself: I highly prefer the English version even tho I'm Dutch but I also remember the time I was kid and greatly preferred software in my own language for the simple reason that I did not have much education of the English language yet.

I can recommend any Dutchman/woman/person to use the English version where possible. Especially with the current state of the Dutch translation which leaves a lot to wish for and had quite some cringy factors when I installed it with 227j final (no offense again) as it seems to have many computer translated strings in which the computer knows nothing about the context. While All students get mandatory lessons in the English language here, not everyone has the luxury to use/understand the English version.

I also like the English version a lot more, it's probably just a habit. But I'm happy that my language gets a version too.

It's the same problem: the current version of medium font doesn't have all the accents letters.
There are two options here: remake the medium font, or use UWindowFonts.Tahoma12 instead of the original font
I'm going to make a revised version of this medium font soon, but whether to include it in the game depends on the developers.

What I meant was: it's perfect (spelling). Is showing all the text. The legend is complete with its characters, it's cool! (Thank's).

The U1 files I sent you already contain your changes, including the latest ones you sent. You might want to check the following lines in the following files for corrections, as they're new:

These two (Deprecated) I don't know if it's interesting, I just preferred "UGold" and "Standard".

We marked them as deprecated to tell people that those two consoles, while available, won't be maintained anymore by the team.

I knew it.

The ptt(6newfiles).zip contains the changes that were requested, in PM, for review (I think that's what was expected). And I added a few others that I thought were relevant. It's up to you. Check if it's ok.

(sometimes I think that this google translator changes the meaning of what I typed a little ...haha).
