TNN Outdoors Pro Hunter (1998) runs on a tiny window at the top left

Here you can add and find information and help for other Unreal Engine titles. Currently for UE1 and UE2 based software.

TNN Outdoors Pro Hunter (1998) runs on a tiny window at the top left

Post by AlphaYellow »

So with the Direct3D renderer, the game runs in a small window at the top left instead of filling the whole screen, also I'm using a smaller ingame resolution and forcing to 1080p in dgV for a bigger HUD. Same happens with unforced screen resolution in dgVoodoo as well, the same tiny window at the top, same without dgVoodoo too. When I'm using Bandicam's game capture ingame, it shows normally when I record videos or take screenshots, but in my actual screen view, I can barely see the game at all because it's so tiny. Is there any solution for it? Is it a problem with the renderer maybe? Game uses Unreal v220 btw (with patch 2.0).

Screenshot example, looks totally normal:

You might want to try the Glide renderer. For the majority of Unreal's lifetime, it was THE renderer.

I know, but Glide doesn't support widescreen resolutions at all :) And I want to play it in widescreen.

I couldn't find the patch for this myself, all the links were dead afaik. Only for some further fix but it requires the patch. So my version of tnn hunter is still in the 200 range. Where did you find the patch? But yea...the old renderers do that, you just have to live with it honestly, I don't run it any different...

All the patches seem to be on Patches-Scrolls. Also this game has a sequel. Wonder if it's also Unreal Engine.

Also I don't think it's possible to play in widescreen at all. Tough luck but UE1 ver too old apparently.

I found all patches on an abandonware site, and uploaded on PCGamingWiki. The 2.0 patch updates the original engine to v220. Here are the links:

- Patch v2.0: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/file ... patch-v20/
- Patch v2.0a: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/file ... atch-v20a/
- Voodoo 3 Patch: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/file ... o-3-patch/

Well, it must be a bug in the Direct3D renderer. If I knew how to fix it, I definitely would but it's outside my expertise... :)

No, the sequel uses LithTech 1.2 from Monolith, they also developed it. I made an FOV fix for it a while ago (https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/file ... 2-fov-fix/), runs well and has no issues at all, only its installer being 16-bit but it's easily fixable using a setup32.exe file: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/TNN_O ... o_Hunter_2

About the first game, the Direct3D renderer from the 2.0 patch supports widescreen resolutions just fine, but I just can't seem to maximize that tiny window yet. I'll keep trying to see what I can find. Here's an example video of it running in widescreen just fine:
