I mean...ugh this might be a difficult one given that most of the developers have either lost their stuff (some only recently due to neglect) or give it away to the branch of Atari that got bankrupt itself...but never say never...maybe with some help from someone of Epic. If Smirftsch and Dots can reach out, maybe someone out there has a copy of the Unreal II source code? From Epic still. I know they are not open to having time allocated for these things, but...umm never say never like i said?
The only latest source thing someone I could myself reach to (outside of Epic) had was a beta version of u2xmp and not even the main game....
So yea....it might be a tougher job here even considering the main game had its network functionality gutted out. But it really needs some updates more than the other games I'd argue. Its been hated to oblivion but me and others know how much work had gone into this game, so much unseen and removed content and stuff and stories I was told by the developers themselves including some documents and text based they asked me not to share at the time...

The only thing that was good about Unreal II was XMP.
U2 strayed so far away from the original that it has hardly any connection with it. It's a bloody shame about the missed potential.

Re: A possibility of this receiving some patches?
It had a lot common with it, but it didn't help that most of the references and things tying it with unreal were cut before the game released.
It was supposed to take place roughly at the same time, it is an expansion of the known Unreal universe, just taking place in different sectors.
However no matter what your opinion of this game is, it makes no sense to sideline it/trash it during this time.
