I have managed to get the game running on linux (debian) through flatpak lutris + a installer script. (https://lutris.net/games/install/14389/view)
I cant seem to receive any audio at all, I will post the Log info as a spoiler:

It's been quite a while since oldunreal had an overhaul, but we are moving to another server which require some updates and changes. The biggest change is the migration of our old reliable YaBB forum to phpBB. This system expects you to login with your username and old password known from YaBB.
If you experience any problems there is also the usual "password forgotten" function. Don't forget to clear your browser cache!

Try running the command
ldd -r ALAudio.so | grep found
in the System folder. If you get something like
libxmp.so.4 => not found
it means you're missing a library. Extract the appropriate libxmp* libraries from Help/convenience_libs.tar.bz2 in the System folder and run the command
ln -s libxmp.so.4.5.0 libxmp.so.4
(I get this same error when I install the patch on a fresh install of Unreal Gold)
