Hes just kidding :) But what he means is, its just a few buttons to click to activate a server.

Just starting a server is not as complicated as it looks, just follow it step by step.

If you done it a few times you can setup a server in a couple a minutes (exluding all mods and stuff)

Well, that involves 'server packages'...I believe there are explanations of that on those sites we linked you to earlier...

You need to go into the advanced options -> networking (i think) and set master server uplink to true.

You'll also have problems if you use a router and don't forward the ports, but I am definately not helping there (mainly cause its far too complicated)..

(Or perhaps just because i don't know myself)

I answered some questions about Unreal servers behind routers before at my forum. If you have a router, you might want to do a search here with the keyword 'router'.

Well actually i know of a tutorial explaining step-by-step how to do port forwarding for my router, i've just never needed to make a server before...

Whithin a few weeks i have need for similar info. If i get my first router, than i am going to run a few small Unreal servers.

At this moment i have no clue or what so ever how to forward ports, for now i hope the router has a good interface where i can make those settings in a decent manor.

Make sure that the connection speed is set to cable/dsl and NOT to Lan. And add a name to your servername, so you can find it back easelly in the serverlist.

Except for the router story, if you are directly connected to the internet, than basically you only have to do the follow settings:

- set DoUplink to true

- make sure your firewall alows Unreal to act as a server !!! (you could shut down your firewall to see if it works without it, in that way you know if that is the problem)

- set netspeed to cable/dsl

- start Unreal as a dedicated server

And if correct you should see an Unreal icon in the tray next to your clock.

Those are the basic non-fancy setting you need to make, and it should pop-up in the serverlist just fine.

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2003/q3/bt-2000.asp

Well, thats a review for my router, but it also features a full guide on setup and port forwarding (known as a 'virtual server' on this router).

Obviously your make and model will be different but maybe it would be the same idea?

Well, you probably have a router. Then it's ONLY going to work when you forward Unreal's ports in the router.

What about those posts about router configuration that were given? Did you do anything with that info?

And something obvious: When you have a firewall you'll need to give Unreal server permission.
