old unreal will not load

Hi, new to the forum and having dug out old unreal disc , now I have fancy windows xp, my screen says system file not suitable for ms dos and windows applications.
Cannot get the program to load
Any ideas out there

copy the cd directories {system,textures etc} into any folder then you have an instant unreal install :p

hi, thanks for replying.
I copied all the files off the cd onto a file on the hard drive.
When i click system set up it still gives me the same message that it will not run on msdos and windows system.
Any ideas?

If you copied everything, then you already installed it. Just launch Unreal.exe.

It must be in the System folder. Did you copy that one?

there is no unreal.exe in the system file on mym new copied file or on the original disc????

It should be on the CD AND on your drive as you should have copied it.

It's only about 5 KB (pathetic). When you get it, download 227e and install it.

Well, 227e .exe is in the patch. 100 is not.
